Samuel L. Jackson: A Tribute

October 04, 2024 – October 16, 2024

The Museum of Modern Art

Over a prolific 40-year career on stage and screen, Samuel L. Jackson has established himself as one of the most beloved actors of his generation, a star as at home in iconic independent films (Pulp Fiction (1994), Jungle Fever (1991)) as he is in two of the most popular film franchises of all time (the Star Wars and Marvel universes). We are proud to honor Jackson at the 2024 MoMA Film Benefit, and as part of our celebration we’re presenting a selection of films that represent his unique talent and range, from his work with frequent collaborators Spike Lee and Quentin Tarantino, to lead roles in Changing Lanes (2002) and One Eight Seven (1997), to one of his many appearances as Nick Fury (in Captain Marvel (2019)). We are also excited to present Malcolm Washington’s new film adaptation of August Wison’s The Piano Lesson, in which Jackson reprises his Tony Award–nominated portrayal of patriarch Doaker Charles.

The full screening schedule can be found here.

Samuel L. Jackson: A Tribute is organized by Sean Egan, Senior Producer, Film Exhibitions and Projects, Department of Film.
