2022 MoMA PS1 BENEFIT GALA TO HONOR PHILANTHROPIST AGNES GUND AND ARTISTS DJALI BROWN-CEPEDA, RASHID JOHNSON, AND DEANA LAWSON
Benefit to be Held in the MoMA PS1 Courtyard for the First Time in the Institution’s History
MoMA PS1 will host its 2022 Benefit Gala on Wednesday, May 18. The event will honor Agnes Gund, former Chair of PS1’s Board of Directors, and a constellation of artists, including Djali Brown-Cepeda, founder of the digital archiving project Nuevayorkinos featured in PS1’s Homeroom last year; Rashid Johnson, whose site-specific installation Stage is on view in the Courtyard; and Deana Lawson, the subject of a career-long survey on view through September 5. The event will be co-chaired by Sarah Arison, Chair of the PS1 Board; Robert Soros, PS1 board member, and Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation.
For the first time, the MoMA PS1 Benefit Gala will be held on-site in the museum’s Courtyard and will celebrate the institution’s past, present, and future, with an artist-inspired menu by chef Mina Stone, and a special performance by vocalist Baby Rose.
