MoMA PS1 ANNUAL GALA TO HONOR ARTS LEADER EMILY WEI RALES AND ARTIST KARA WALKER ON MAY 14
MoMA PS1 will host its 2025 Annual Gala in the courtyard on Wednesday, May 14. The event honors Emily Wei Rales, director and cofounder of Glenstone, as well as artist Kara Walker. Taking place in PS1’s iconic courtyard, the event will feature a sweeping fabric installation by artist Eric N. Mack and menu by acclaimed chef and artist Omar Tate, followed by an after party conceived by artist DonChristian Jones. The Annual Gala is co-chaired by Sarah Arison and Thomas Wilhelm, Samir Goel and Julie Markham, Marguerite Hoffman, Iman, Eleanor Heyman Propp, Komal Shah and Gaurav Garg, Jessica Soy, Jamie and Robert Soros, and Chloe and Mahfuz Sultan.
“This year’s honorees, Emily Wei Rales and Kara Walker, are deeply aligned with MoMA PS1’s mission, whose work amplifying art and artists resonates within New York and around the world,” said MoMA PS1’s Agnes Gund Director Connie Butler. “It’s a privilege to celebrate their distinct and lasting influence on the artistic landscape.”
MoMA PS1 will also host an after party immediately following the Annual Gala conceived by DonChristian Jones. This celebration builds on Jones’ recent exhibition at PS1 as the inaugural Adobe Creative Resident at MoMA, DonChristian Jones: The Sumptuous Discovery of Gotham a Go-Go. The exhibition extended the artist’s ongoing practice of world-building through a dynamic performance program celebrating their community of creative practitioners. The after party features a live performance by Demi and The Band and vinyl sets by Ms. Carrie Stacks and Persona La Ave. Dinner tickets start at $2,500, and after party tickets are $150. Specialty cocktails are provided by Dobel Tequila and wine by Dry Farm Wines, with additional thanks to Brooklyn Brewery, San Pellegrino, Acqua Panna, Perrier, and Essentia.
