The Museum of Modern Art announced today that Cécile Godefroy has been named the new Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller Curator of Painting and Sculpture. Ms. Godefroy will join MoMA from the Musée national Picasso-Paris, where she currently serves as Head of the Department of Research and Archives and Deputy Director for Scientific and Collections and oversees the newly inaugurated Centre d’Études Picasso. Ann Temkin, the Marie-Josée and Henry Kravis Chief Curator of Painting and Sculpture, said “We are delighted to welcome Cécile, a distinguished colleague whose perspective and experience with collections and exhibitions dovetail closely with the work we are doing today at MoMA.”

Cécile Godefroy shared, “It is an honour and an exciting challenge to join such a visionary institution. I look forward to collaborating with Ann and the talented teams at MoMA, contributing to the stewardship of one of the world’s most important collections of modern and contemporary art.”
